Who we are
Boogey Temp Cover provides short-term car and van insurance quotes and policies in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
Information we collect
Quote details: cover start date and duration, reason for cover, vehicle registration or make, vehicle type, your date of birth, licence type and how long it has been held, penalty points and your postcode.
Purchase details: your name, email address, phone number, billing address and payment card details, which are processed by our payment provider.
Technical details: device and browser information, IP address and pages visited, used to keep the service secure and working correctly.
How we use your information
To calculate a price, decide whether we can offer cover, issue and administer your policy, handle claims, prevent fraud, meet our legal and regulatory duties, and respond when you contact us.
We rely on performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in running and protecting the service, and our legal obligations as the lawful bases for this processing.
Who we share it with
Insurers and underwriters providing your cover, payment processors, anti-fraud and licence-verification services, and regulators or law enforcement where the law requires it. We never sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
Quotes that are not purchased are kept for up to 12 months. Policy and claims records are kept for at least 7 years after cover ends, to meet insurance and regulatory requirements.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to run the quote journey and remember your progress. Any analytics or advertising cookies are only set with your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time in your browser settings.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, object to or restrict processing, and ask for it to be transferred. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access is limited to staff and partners who need it to provide your cover. Card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored on our systems.
